January 21, 2009 11:00 AM by Paulene Hinds

Elliot Yamin, the season 5 third place finalist on American Idol is putting together his sophmore album, which he says will be released in May. He will release a new single from the album this February, but hasn’t decided which song will hit the airwaves first.

“There’s a song called You that I did with Stargate. … Then there’s Know Better that I did with this really talented production team called Midi Mafia. It’s a really hot track – it’s got single potential written all over it,” the singer told USA Today.

The album will be released by Sony/ATV Music Publishing’s Hickory Records and follows up his 2007 self-titleddebut album Elliot Yamin. There is no word on what the title of the new record will be at this time.

The smooth voiced singer, has been very busy recording songs for this new album and estimates that he has recorded over 35 songs for the follow-up to his debut record which hereleased in 2007.

“Obviously, not all of them are going to make the record,” Yamin said adding that he plans to include “as many people as possible.”
