American Idol: Controversy Over Joanna Pacitti

January 23, 2009 03:00 PM by Paulene Hinds

Last Wednesday evening, American Idol rolled into Louisville Kentucky. Among the lucky singers to get a golden ticket to Hollywood was one young lady, Joanna Pacitti. Her performance was wonderful, but now it is being marked with controversy. Why? Keeping reading!

Joanna Pacitti is being criticized for using American Idol to boost what people are calling, a well-established career in showbusiness. Joanna Pacitti had been signed to A&M Records in the past, recorded an album as well as having many songs featured on movie soundtracks including; Legally Blonde (Watch Me Shine), Bratz (Out From Under), First Daughter, and Nancy Drew. Joanna Pacitti has also had her songs picked up by big name’s in the industry. Her song Out From Under was re-recorded by Britney Spears on her most recent CD, Circus.

After A&M Joanna Pacitti recorded and released an album in 2006, This Crazy Life, on Geffen Records and she has also dated pro dancer and mirror ball trophy winner, Mark Ballas from the hit ABC show Dancing With The Stars.

Many people are saying that Joanna Pacitti is too big to be considered for this amateur competition? Is this the proper venue for someone who has made it as far as she has in the business? It will be interesting to see how far she goes and if the fact that she is so well known will help her or hinder her as she moves into the Hollywood round on American Idolin the next few weeks.
