Afew years ago, almost every Billboard chart had a single or album on it from the season one American Idol star and songs were all over the radiofrom her debut album Thankful (2003).Her second album, Breakaway (2004), went multi-platinum andthe pop singerhad sold over 20 million albums worldwide. Then Kelly Clarkson did the unthinkable and moved to a more pop rock-oriented style of music. She released her third album My December,in 2007.
Kelly Clarkson’s decision to break out of the pop singer mold, lost her quite a few fans and even though the album My December, sold over 2 million copies worldwide, many people thought that her new sound and image were to heavy and not to their liking, making it seem as if Kelly Clarkson would fade into music history.
Kelly Clarkson didn’t disappear though and her newest single My Life Would Suck Without You made its debut on the Billboard charts this week, entering the Hot 100 at #97 and is #58 on Hot 100 Airplay. It also charts on the Pop 100 (31), Pop 100 Airplay (25), Mainstream Top 40 (27), and Adult Top 40 Tracks (28). Kelly Clarkson’salbum, All I Ever Wanted, is due out March 10.
If Kelly Clarksonis not happy about going back to her pop star roots, her fans definately are, and that adds up to a lot of money in Kelly Clarkson’s pocket and that is something to sing about.
