One Way Out is a new reality TV series that focuses on the science of escape and the art of ingenuity. The series stars escapologist Jonathan Goodwin, who attempts to break out of bizarre and dangerous homemade contraptions. Helping Goodwin in setting up these incredible escapes are his best friend and chief collaborator Mikey Nelson and master builder/engineer Terry Stroud.
Some of the escapes/stunts that Jonathan Goodwin will attempt include being tied to his kitchen table with a live scorpion trapped inside his mouth, being locked inside a box on top of a shaking washing machine with his body covered in 200,000 agitated bees, being pushed down a large hill in a locked barrel rolling at 126 revolutions per minute, being spun in a chair at high speeds before attempting to navigate through piles of broken glass while barefoot, experiencing two G’s of force in the Water Wheel of Doom, having six tennis ball cannons fire tennis balls at his body at 45 mph, jumping from a height of twenty feet into seventeen inches of muddy water, and launching himself over 65 feet into the air with a giant slingshot.
“Jonathan is captivating to watch. One Way Out mixes science, fun and risk and will keep viewers riveted to the television as Jonathan puts his body to the test and uses his smarts and physics to find a way out,” said John Ford, who is president and general manager of the Discovery Channel.
One Way Out premieres on Monday, January 26 at 9 PM ET/PT on the Discovery Channel.
