While programming against the Superbowl is next to impossible, there is always the chance that viewers will flip the channel during the Superbowl half-time show. ABC is offering viewers a half-time option with Wipeout Superball Sunday, which will keep the hits coming for viewers.
Wipeout Superball Sunday is hosted by former NFL player Michael Irvin, Jill Wagner, John Anderson, and John Henson. On the special football-inspired edition of Wipeout, thirteen cheerleaders will take on thirteen couch potato guys.
The special courses will include the Big Balls transformed into giant football helmets, along with a 300-pound linebacker directing the contestants to run across them as fast as they can. Another obstacle course will challenge contestants to try to tackle the 10 Yard Dash Log Roll, while being hit with paint soaked footballs thrown by sideline quarterbacks.
The Sweeper will be replaced by King of the Mountain, which challenges twelve contestants to race to avoid swinging beams while attempting to reach the center of a moving platform. Also, the new Dizzy Dummy 2.0 features the Teeter Totter Turf Tackle and the Keg Run.
In addition to the football-themed obstacle courses, viewers will also be treated to the USC marching band playing game day tunes and the introduction of the Wipeout Big Ball mascot. In a special tailgate area, there will be interviews with the cheerleaders and the couch potatoes, while they enjoy bratwurst, burgers, and hot dogs. Also, several Pro Football superstars will make surprise appearances.
