American Idol: Jennifer Hudson To Perform At 40th NAACP Image Awards

American Idol finalist Jennifer Hudson recently impressed Super Bowl viewers with an amazing performance of the National Anthem. Now, FOX has announced that Jennifer Hudson will be performing at the 40th NAACP Image Awards.

While Jennifer Hudson first gained fame as a finalist on American Idol, she has since gained recognition as both an actress and a singer. On the acting front, Jennifer Hudson won an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress for her role in the movie, Dreamgirls. She also recently received two NAACP Image Award nominations for her role in the movie, The Secret Life of Bees.

On the musical front, Jennifer Hudson’s self-titled debut album went RIAA-certified Gold and recently received four Grammy Award nominations. She also received six NAACP Image Award nominations for her album.

In addition to Jennifer Hudson, Seal will also be performing during the 40th NAACP Image Awards. Sean “Diddy” Combs, Taraji P. Henson, Keke Palmer, Regina Taylor and Kerry Washington will be presenters, and Halle Berry and Tyler Perry will serve as hosts. Former Vice President Al Gore and Dr. Wangari Muta Maathai will both receive the Chairman’s Award, while Russell Simmons will receive the Vanguard Award. The special coincides with the NAACP’s 100th anniversary.

The 40th NAACP Image Awards will air live from Los Angeles’ historic Shrine Auditorium on Thursday, February 12 from 8 PM to 10 PM ET live/PT tape-delayed on FOX.
