American Idol winner, Carrie Underwood and Dancing With the Stars Champion Julianne Hough have both received nominations for the 44th annual Academy of Country Music Awards. They received the news from another American Idol alum, Kellie Pickler during The Early Show on Wednesday morning.
American Idolseason 4 winner, Carrie Underwood is the only female nominated in the entertainer of the year category. She is going up against Brad Paisley, Kenny Chesney, Keith Urban and George Strait for the award.
As Kellie Pickler made the announcement that Carrie Underwood was nominated, Julianne Hough was visibly excited and told People magazine, “I think it’s so amazing a female is up there to represent.”
Carrie Underwood is also nominated for top female vocalist and video of the year It’s Just a Dream.
Dancing With the Stars beauty, Julianne Hough, who released her first album last year, is competiting for the top new female vocalist title. “It’s the best feeling in the world to know people are welcoming me,” she told People magazine.
The 44th ACM Awards will be broadcast live on CBS from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas onApril 5.
