If Nadya Suleman is thinking about getting into reality TV anytime soon, she should think again. It appears that the birth of her octuplets is not drawing networks to the young single mom, but making them run for the hills!
Nadya Suleman, a single mother who already had six children before becoming pregnant with octuplets, admitted in an interview with NBC that each of her 14 children were born through IVF and sperm donations. She said that she had continued to seek fertility treatment to extend her family and make up for being an only child.
“That was always a dream of mine, to have a large family, a huge family. I just longed for certain connections and attachments with another person that I really lacked, I believe, growing up,”Nadya Suleman said.
She also told NBC that she had tried for seven years to get pregnant before turning to IVF. She said that after the first treatment was successful she “just kept going on”.
NadyaSuleman is back at home where she lives with her parents, who are currently looking after her six older children, including one set of twins, all under eight-years-old. The octuplets, six boys and two girls, who were born nine weeks prematurely, remain in thehospital and will be released individually as they reach their near-normal newborn weight.
Nadya Suleman, who had been given the nickname the octomom, has been given 15 minutes of fame and according to reality television producer Mike Fleiss, that’s all she’s going to get, “It’s too radioactive,” he told Extra. Mike Fleiss also doesn’t think that any credible network would ever pick up a show about her. “I don’t think anyone reputable will ever do this,” he stated.
Mike Fleissthinks that with all of the negative publicity that Nadya is receiving, she won’t last long in the public eyeand stated, “… I don’t think there’s ever gonna be a market for her in mainstream media because most people think it’s disgusting.” He even went as far assending a message through Extrato the mother of 18, “Yeah, don’t call me.”
TLC doesn’t evenseem to be jumping at the chance to create a show just for Nadya Suleman’s brood. They have created hit shows about large familieslike Jon and Kate Plus 8 and 17 Kids and Counting (which should be 18 now), but even TLC doesn’t want to touch 18 Kids and Crazy!
