The Biggest Loser Couples Separates Another Pair
February 17, 2009 08:40 PM by DA Southern

The Biggest Loser Couples, now relegated to the decimation of the couples, begins the thinning of the herd as the pairings are torn apart in the elimination room week-by-week. With Blaine going home last week and on a mission to become this season’s runner up winner, Dane is left to go it alone as the rest of the couples fight to stay in the house and above the dreaded yellow line.
The Losers met Alison Sweeney in front of the gym and were told that they were in for another “Pop Challenge” and the stakes for this challenge was an exclusive key to the gym for two lucky teams for a week. Alison chained up the gym door and the Losers had to trek up a mountain to get keys and, hopefully, on of the keys would be the one to open up the lock to the gym as there were many to choose from.
Many of the Losers came down with keys but poor Ron seemed to struggle the most with the mountain with his bad knees. The Losers came and went and after many trips, and after Tara pushed herself so hard she was puking after every trip up and down the mountain, Shanon’s sixth attempt was successful leaving one more lock to open. After an hour of futile attempts to unlock the last lock, Mike secured the last gym spot for him and his dad for the week.

Jillian saw that Blaine had gone home, knowing that Bob wanted Dane to go, and was shocked. When Bob found out that Dane was not eliminated, he reminded his team that the game was still on and that they had left a threat in the house. Jillian saw that her team would be training out of the gym for the week and knew she would have to be creative for the exercise and Bob was determined to make it count for the remaining members of his team that were not in the gym for the week.
Shanon, Helen, Mike and Ron were relishing their time in the gym while Jillian’s team was playing musical chairs and doing exercises in the house with the rest of her team. Jillian was concerned about Tara, who admitted to having an “Off day” and was decidedly uncompromising as Tara was uncharacteristically defiant as the stress of carrying her team mate, Laura, was getting to her.
Bob, on the other hand, loving an outdoor challenge, started using the lawn furniture for his workouts and showed the Losers that they didn’t need fancy gym equipment to get a good workout. Many of the Losers really experienced a new realization as they worked out in the fresh air and had pains they never had before due to the change of routine.

Bob was in to the gym and saw that Helen had made a lounge out of the gym but knew that playtime was over. It was strange to see the lack of motivation out of the four in the gym as Bob said that a gym needed life and that the four were definitely not taking advantage of their personal gym. The most surprising of the outdoor activities was the mud-pit and mud-wrestling that many of the Losers decided to do.
The challenge had a row of, well, rowing machines, that were connected to light panels and they were to peddle to keep their panels from turning red or be out. It was a team competition and if one went out; the team went out and would lose a chance at immunity. Mike and Ron went out first, which was to be expected, followed by the Yellow Team of Mandi and Aubrey. Purple Team, Kristin and Cathy, and the Pink Team, Shanon and Helen, were dueling to stay in the game as their colors dipped in the danger zone repeatedly until Pink Team went out.

Green, Purple, Blue and Black remained and Cathy finally lost her momentum sending the Purple Team out of the competition. Filipe and Sione, the Blue Team, went out next, followed by the Green Team of Tara and Laura, sending Dane into the Winner’s circle, making Bob’s premonition of Dane’s dominance a reality.
The Last-Chance Workout was interesting as the majority of the Losers were relegated to being outside for the workout before the weigh-in and Bob gave Ron pool duty as his knees were still hindering his ability to work out. The beach work-out was brutal as the Losers struggled in the sand as Bob told them that the sand “Gripped them” and would make their workout hell as they dragged wood on their shoulders and themselves through the sand.

Jillian was still in her “80′s aerobic” mode and the cement terrain was wreaking havoc on the Losers and Tara was concerned that Laura was really letting the Green team down. Jillian finished the Last-Chance Workout with some brutal pool duty and the serenity of the pool was not-so-much for Jillian’s team.
The Weigh-In
Allison reminded that a team would go below the yellow line and that team would then be split up at the elimination table. With immunity for Dane, he weighed in first and had a 4 pound weight loss/1.22% loss and was probaly glad for the immunity.
Purple Team, Kristin and Cathy, lost 12 and 1 pound for a 2.30% loss
Blue Team, Sione and Filipe, lost 9 and 7 pounds for a 2.65%
Green Team, Laura and Tara, lost 8 and 7 pounds for a 3.14%
Yellow Team, Mandi and Aubrey, lost 5 and 7 pounds for a 2.74%
Pink Team, Helen and Shanon, lost 6 and 3 pounds for a 1.99%
Brown Team, Mike and Ron, lost 10 and 7 pounds for a 2.51%
Pink Team, Helen and Shanon, were now sent to pack their bags and to decide who would be leaving between the two ladies at the elimination table. Helen pleaded for Shanon to go home as she was at home previously and had proven herself at home, but the rest of the teams questioned whether she was sincere or if Helen was being a bit selfish in her desire to stay.

The elimination room was a bit unpredictable in their decisions and Shanon was still was intend on leaving the competition. Green gave Shanon her first vote as did the Blue Team and it looked like Shanon was going to get her wish. Brown Team gave Shanon her third vote and the Purple team finished her off, as to her wishes and Helen was alone once again in the house.
After an emotional send off, we had a chance to see Shanon, who stated off at 283 pounds, and now tipped the scales at 198 pounds and was well on her way to losing over 100 pounds before the finale.
