American Idol 8: The First Live Results Show

February 18, 2009 08:29 PM by Paulene Hinds

Last night after the first twelve performances on American Idol, over 24 million people voted for their favorite singer. Which three contestants from group one advanced to the Top 12? Keep reading to find out!

The first group song of the season was I’m Yours and afterward Ryan Seacrestsaid that last night after a strong start, some of the contestants cracked under the pressure. Crazy, Tatiana turned the night around with her performance and someone must of slipped her some medication because she was way to subdued. She continued on with her weird kickin’ back mood during the American Idolresults showas Ryan Seacrest tried to get a rise out of her by questioning her about her ring from Paula Abdul. It didn’t happen though and her only real comment was that she was humbled to be in the top 36.

Casey Carlson was the first up tonight for elimination. Last night she sang Ever Little Thing She Does is Magic which was chewed up by the judges. She didn’t go through.

Stephen Fowler sang Rock With You last night and the judges thought that he chose the wrong song. He also didn’t make it through to the top 12.

Alexis Grace was called up next by Ryan Seacrest and the crowd cheered for her. She sang I Never Loved A Man last night and Simon Cowellhad called her a dark horse of the competition. She was the first to make it through to the top 12. Alexis then was asked to sing the song from last night and rocked it.

Ricky Braddy and Jackie Tohn were called up together. Ricky sang A Song For You and Jackie sang A Little Less Conversation. Both had ho hum performances last night and both were rejected.

Anoop Desai or Anoop Dog and Michael Sarver were up next. Angel Of Mine was the song choice by Anoop and Michael chose I Don’t Want to Be last night. Michael made it through and Anoop Dog was sent packing. Only 20,000 votes separated Anoop and Michael, so I am sure that Anoop will be back for the wildcard round. I am thrilled that Michael made it in as this guy really deserves to be a star. He sang his song from last night one more time with even more soul.

Carly Smithson and Michael Johns from last season came out and sang The Letter. Michael Johns album will be out in May and he will have a new single out in just two weeks!

The next three contestants came up to see Ryan Seacrest. They were BrentKeith Smith, Anne Marie Boskovichand Stevie Wright.

Anne Marie sang Natural Woman and Stevie sang You Belong to Me. Kara DioGuardi thought that Anne Marie’s song was too big for her and Simon Cowell said Stevie had zero chance to make it in. Brent sang Hick Townand Randy Jackson said that he would make a good country artist. None of them had a chance with Danny Gokeysitting on the sidelines waiting for his results and just as I had guessed, none of them made it in!

Last but not least were Tatiana Del Toro and Danny Gokey. The drama began with Tatiana as she started to wave her hands and couldn’t speak. Paula Abdul was asked who she though made it through and she chose Danny. I was surprised at this point that Tatiana wasn’t kneeling on the ground praying! Tatiana sang Saving All My Love for You and Danny sang Hero. The person going through to the top 12 was Danny! Tatiana then had her breakdown and had to be carried from the stage! Her psychic says she makes it to the top 12, so I am sure she will be back for the wildcard round along with Anoop. Danny then sang again…yummy!

Next week, American Idol will be on Wednesday and Thursday night starting at 8 PM ET on FOX.

It was obvious that Danny Gokey was in-especially when they saved him for the end. I thought the Michael Johns/ Carly thing was horrible! I just can’t stand either one of them–sorry! I’m rooting for Danny Gokey–he really has talent and it shows.
