The United States American Idol fans were stunned (ok maybe not so much) with the news last week that even though Joanna Pacitti was accepted into the top 36, that she would not be competing and that instead, Felicia Barton, the 26 year old mother from Virginia Beach, VA would be taking her place. How long again did the two girls in question find out this information however?
Felicia Barton got a call from the American Idol executive producer Ken Warwick during the final night of Hollywood week when the top 36 American Idol semi-finalists were announced. At that time she was asked to come back to Hollywood and participate in the semi-final round. What was her response? Yes of course!
Her husband, Loren, recounted how the evening went on his Facebook page this week, talking about how sad his wife seemed as they sat down to watch the final judgement episode and how she took her phone to the bathroom in order to have the conversation in a quiet place. When she came out he knew that something had changed as she was “bouncing off the walls”. Then the hard part started. Keeping the news to themselves until the show finished airing on the West Coast.
While the news went well on the East Coast that night, we doubt it went nearly as well for Joanna Pacitti when the American Idol producers let her know that she wouldno longer be the recipient of that golden ticket. Oh well, at least she still has her love life to look forward too. We are just glad that American Idol powers that be came to their senses before the new image they have worked so hard at displaying to the world was forever ruined with yet another controversy.
