Project Runway is ina bind this season. As the show remains in a legal battlebetween the Weinstein Company and Bravo over who owns the rights of the program, New York Fashion Week continues and the Project Runway fashionshow today is causing a lot of confusion amongst designers, viewers and even Tim Gunn, who is a judge of the hit show. Finally Project Runway host, Heidi Klumis coming forward to try andgive us the answers we are all looking for.
In a backstage interview with OK! magazine yesterdayHeidi Klumsaid, “We’re having the show on Friday. Every year we have the same thing – so we always show about seven or eight designers because the audience otherwise would always know.”
The main problem this season she says, is that the new designers are not going to get any exposure like past contestants of Project Runway. “It is sad for the designers because they’ve really worked their butts off for so many weeks being on the show. And normally, you know, this is their moment. That’s why they’re here, because they want to get the recognition at Fashion Week.” Heidi Klum added, “Unfortunately, on Friday it won’t have that big of an impact for them, because people are not going to be rooting for them because they don’t know them.”
Heidi’s interview may have explained a little bit more of what to expect today, but itreally didn’t give us muchmore information than Tim Gunn’s interview. This season of Project Runway may as well have been scrapped as Fashion Week is the biggest event for the reality TVshow and with no fan-fare for the contestants, it may not even be that big of a deal when the show finally does come to air, whenever that may be.
