Rumor has it that last night’s The Biggest Loser cast off Gregory “Dane” Patterson, is lying about coming home and running a marathon in just under four hours. Apparently an avid runner decided to call him on his achievement and did a little research to see if Dane indeed was able to run a mile in 8 minutes and 53 seconds as would have been the case if he finished the marathon in the amount of time that he stated on the show. Beloware the conclusions to the investigation and an apparentresponse from Dane’s wife about the incident.

Gregory “Dane” Patterson did indeed run a marathon when he returned home from The Biggest Loser. The name of the event was the Desert Classic Marathon, which was held in Phoenix Arizona. Dane began the race with his wife, but apparently around the 17 mile mark they were picked up in a van and driven to the end of the course, where they were filmed by the Biggest Loser team crossing the finish line, with their family cheering them on.

The incident even caused one other runner, who finished the marathon,to give Dane the nickname the “Biggest Liar.”

The Biggest Loser could have reported that Dane ran a half marathon, which would have been an incredible achievement, but they chose to stretch the truth and tell the world that Dane ran the whole event, in an incredible time to boot!

Dane’s wife Carli Patterson has apparently found out that some one was taking her family to task for thelie and it looks like she has decided to come forward and write anexplanation and apology to the runner who outed her and her husband. Her explanation of the distance ran by her husbandhowever still doesn’t seem to fit with what theother runnerhas reported.

Carli Patterson wrote, “Hi! I’m Carli Patterson wife to The Biggest Losercontestant Dane Patterson. I had heard about your post and wanted to give you an explanation of what happened. I am so proud of my husband and his accomplishments. This has been an amazing experience for our family and unfortunatly this marathon has been a little exaggerated.” She continued, “In this industry you are always on a time frame and sometimes it is out of your control. We had stopped along the way to film at a water station and to make up for lost time our producers drove us ONLY 3 miles up the road.

Carli Patterson went on to apologize to the other runner stating, “I am sorry if this has offended you in any way, but we are still incredibly happy about the 23 miles we ran. We were not listed as completing the marathon. Dane is an honest LDS Dad and I hope that they do say he completed this marathon because had time allowed he would have!”

What do you think about the marathon incident? IsDane Patterson The Biggest Loser or the Biggest Liar, you decide!

You ran 23 miles NOT a marathon and it seems questionable that you even ran 23. It doesn’t matter what you think you could have done, you didn’t finish. Instead you got in a car and drove to the finish, you are cheaters and liars.

If you get picked up in a van and driven 3 miles, this is against the rules. You get disqualified from the event for cheating. Which is exactly what happened (and why they are not listed in the results… they were reported and subsequently removed).

Additionally, there were severe editing shenanigans. He didn’t run a 3:53. My team members who were at this race reported him coming in closer to the six hour mark, perhaps 5:53, which jibes with why Carli would be saying they had to hurry up. Maybe the camera team had to leave at the six hour mark.

This is insulting to the runners at this race and people who have been training for marathons in general. It is highly manipulative and finally, of all the “reality” manipulations that BL has done, this one is over the line. It involved real-world people who had nothing to do with the show.

I don’t even see his name on the results page for the desert classic in AZ for 2009.
