Carrie Underwood Remakes Mötley Crüe Hit For American Idol Farewell Theme Song

Season four American Idol winner, Carrie Underwood has recorded a version of MÃtley CrÃe’s Home Sweet Home for American Idol. The singer has taken a break from her country roots this one time, tapping into her rock side to record the show’s new farewell theme song.

Carrie Underwood iskeeping with a home themed song which has beenthe caseinprevious yearsas contestants are eliminated from American Idol. The song will debutthis Wednesday night when season 8′s first finalist is sent home.

The song will be available as a digital single exclusively on iTunes through toMarch 16, after which it will be released on other online music retail sites. A portion of the proceeds will benefit the Humane Society of the United States (HSUS).

“I’ve always loved this song, and besides being very fitting for Idol, to me, the title is also very fitting with animal rescue and finding animals their own homes,” Carrie Underwood said. “So we felt it was important to tie the release into an amazing animal charity like the HSUS.”

Carrie Underwood joins three other American Idol alumni who have provided the show with the season’s farewell theme. Chris Daughtry, whose Home played as season-six singers made their American Idol exit, Ruben Studdard’sversion of Kenny Loggins’ Celebrate Me Home was the farewellsong last year, and Daniel Powter’s Bad Day became a digital hit in 2006, when it was chosen as the season farewell song.
