Fantasia Barrino Says Danny Gokey Will Win American Idol Season 8

Fantasia Barrino took home the American Idol crown in 2004 and continues to follow the show each season voting for her favorite singer. This season her favoritechoiceis Danny Gokey, the 28 year-old singer from Milwaukee, who lost his wife Sophia to a congenital heart defect just seven months before he made it into the Top 13.

Fantasia says she loves singers who can “take a song that’s not theirs, but make it their own.” Danny Gokey moves her every time she hears him sing she says.

Fantasia was in Washington to announce The Color Purple tour which she isstarring in.She isreviving the role of Celia, who she played for nine months on Broadway.

Fantasiadecided to give some advice to the American Idolcontestants. Shesaid don’t “be mouthy to Simon. We just have to learn to take the blows.” She added, “The best thing a contestant can do is to be him or herself.”

The tour of The Color Purpleopens June 30 at The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts.

    She’s right. That’s because she’s an expert when it comes to knowing a SOB story can make you winner of American Idol. Danny’s sob story will carry him through to the win. Too bad his voice doesn’t quite meet up to expectations.
