Next week on American Idol, the Top 12 will saunter out on stage to croonsongs popularized by Grand Ole Opry members. Don’t expect to see Dolly Parton back as a guestsinger though. American Idol has decided that they are going younger with their performers this season, hoping to draw more viewers.
Brad Paisley, Randy Travis and Carrie Underwood, who are all members of The Grand Ole Oprywill take part in American Idol‘s Grand Ole Opry weekthis Wednesday (March 18). Brad Paisley will perform his new single, Then, from his forthcoming album, American Saturday Night.
In addition, Randy Travis and former American Idol,Carrie Underwood will perform a duet of I Told You So, written by Randy Travis.The song reached No. 1 on the country charts in 1988 and Carrie Underwood is hoping to attain the same status with her solo version of the song. Itis her current single. Carrie Underwood is providing the farwell song this season for the American Idol contestants as they are voted off the show each week.
A new studio duet version of I Told You So will be available digitallyfor downloadon Thursday.
