The first ever American Idol champion, Kelly Clarkson is in the number one spot on the national sales chart again with her new album, All I Ever Wanted. Her fourth album has sold 255,000 copies in its first week in stores.
Kelly Clarkson smartly made a number of TV appearances during the first week of her album release, even appearing on American Idolwhich was her stepping stone to fame. The success of the album’s first single, My Life Would Suck Without You, which went to No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 also gave her a boost on the charts.
All I Ever Wanted has outsold her sophomore album, Breakaway, which sold 250,000 copies when it came out in 2004, and only reached No. 3 on the album chart. Her 2003 debut, Thankful, started out with 297,000 copies, and 2007′s My Decemberstarted out at291,000 copies, according to Nielsen SoundScan.
