Dancing With The Stars: Samba Shakedown!
March 23, 2009 07:31 PM by Paulene Hinds

Tonight on Dancing With The Stars, regardless of this weeks injuries, all of the competing stars came out to dance tonight. This week all of thecontestants had the same amount of time to rehearse, so they were all on a level playing field.
The first dancers tonight to take to the dance floor on Dancing With The Starswere Denise and Maksim. They would be dancing the samba. Maksim though that Denise was being too serious, so he dressed up in a hot pink samba outfit to get her mind off the steps. Cute Maks! Their routine was still too stiff and Denise looked like she was going to throw up or run away!
Len said that the samba is the hardest of all the Latin dances and he thought that Denise needed more hips and flare. Bruno said that the dance was so flat and full of holes, it was more like a waffle than a samba. Carrie Ann said that Denise shows all of her emotion in her face and she looked terrified. She also told Denise to work on her arms movements.
The judges gave them scores of 5, 6 and 5 a 16 out of 30.

Chuck and Julianne came out second this evening. This week they are stepping up their game with the foxtrot and Chuck hopes to break out of Julianne’s shadow. Their dance was sooooooo cu-ooh-ooh-ooh-ute.
Bruno said he was happy to say Chuck was in the driving seat tonight and wasn’t chasing Julianne all over the place, but leading her. Carrie Ann said that she thinks someone is showing that they can be a contender.
Len said that it is hard to teach your partner anything and he thought the hold and posture was good, but not great yet.
Their scores 8, 7 and 8 a 23 out of 30.
Holly and Dmitry were next and they were going to steam up the TV screen tonight with their sexy samba. After Holly’s temper tantrum she got into it and began to try a little harder. She moves just like a plastic barbie doll…ewwwwwww!
Carrie Ann said that was kind of rough to watch and she is totally disjointed and is lacking strength. Len said that she needs to get her footwork better, it was like a match…hot at the top and wooden at the bottom. Bruno said there was so much to display on the top shelf…like the land of plenty, but eventually he had to look at the feet and Len was absolutely right, the feet were not going the right way. She was something to look at.
They received scores of 5, 6 and 6 a 17 out of 30.
Last week Steve-O couldn’t dance live when he injured himself on Dancing With The Stars, but he was back and tonight Steve-O and his partner Lacey would dance the foxtrot. Steve-O wanted to dance, but required 48 hours to rest his back. He was out to show his fans what he could do. He was cute out there and was really trying. At the end though he slipped and hurt his ankle and hit his back again.
Len said that he always wondered what the “O” stood for and to him it was ovationas he came out and tried to dance a proper foxtrot. Bruno said that Steve-O started out well and then he lost it. Carrie Ann said that you really impress me and I can see that you are in a lot of pain and I am sorry you had a rough time.
Their scores were 5, 5 and 5 a 15 out of 30.

Next The champion of the grid iron, Lawrence and his partner Edyta came out to perform the samba. Lawrence even gave up golf to practice and he said he never does that! The guy knows how to have fun. Their routine was hot.
Bruno said for a guy of such size he is pretty light on his feet and has rhythm. Carrie Ann said that he has that twinkle in his eye. Len said that he likes his work ethic very much and would like to see more rhythm from the hips and less from the shoulders.
They received 7, 6, 7 a 20 out of 30.
Team Shark was up next and Shawn and Mark were dancing the foxtrot tonight on Dancing With The Stars. Shawn was hoping her dance tonight would get a gold medal. You would never know she is 17! Very elegant.
Carrie Ann said that was so great and she has not seen people glide on the floor like she did tonight. Len said that she had great movement and it was her best dance so far. Bruno said it was like watching a beautiful bejeweled hummingbird.
Their scores were 9, 9, and another 9! A 27 out of 30 tonight…WOW and so well deserved.
So as Gilles came out tonight I made sure to check if he was indeed wearing less clothing this week as he promised…nope. Gilles and Cheryl were dancing the samba this week. His mom came all the way from France to watch him this week. Sexy Samba for sure!
Len said Gilles you are a good dancer who made a hard dance look easy. Bruno said that Gilles came out like a throbbing red hot poker and could really raise the heat. Carrie Ann said that Gilles brought out something in Cheryl he hadn’t seen in a long time as she was working it for him and he shook things she didn’t know guys could shake!
They received scores of 9, 9 and 9. Tied with Shawn and Mark with a 27 out of 30.

David and Kym were next and tonight they were dancing the foxtrot. He was hoping he would be able to sizzle tonight as last week his dance fell flat with the judges. There is something about David…he reminds me of Bill Cosby. He knocked em dead!
Bruno said that David had taken the foxtrot to Broadway…what a transformation. Carrie Ann said that it was nice and he was like a Rockette. Len said that one dance does win or lose the competition and tonight it was the best dance he has done.
Their scores 8, 8 and 8 a 24 out of 30.
Steve and Karina were dancing the samba tonight too and during the rehearsal Steve pulled a hamstring. He wasn’t sure if he could dance tonight, but he gave it a whirl anyway. He looked like a Beatle Juice after eating a sandworm! I think he was going for that when he tried to dance the worm. Terrible.
Carrie Ann said Steve you are so cute and so adorable and at some point the novelty wears off. Len said that he is supposed to be killing the dances, but the dances are killing him. Bruno said get on your knees and beg forgiveness…it was just bad!
They received 4, 3 and 3 form the judges a 10 out of 30. Get this guy out of here.

Melissa and Tony were dancing the foxtrot tonight and with the same amount of training as everyone else, they should be awesome tonight. Melissa went to work to say good-bye to her friends tonight and hoped that her co-workers energy would fire her up tonight.Beautiful dance.
Len said you have great musicality and overall it was fantastic. Bruno said beautiful to look at and easy to love. Carrie Ann said you are an excellent dancer, but there is something that is lacking and I can’t put my finger on it…challenge yourself a little bit more.
They received 9, 9 and 9 from the judges which makes a triple tie of 27 with Shawn and Mark and Gilles and Cheryl.
Next Grammy winner Lil’ Kim and Derek were dancing the samba tonight. They were going to shake their booties tonight for everyone to see. WOW!
Bruno said it worked for me and she is a pocket sized Venus with a supersized sex appeal. Carrie Ann said it was HOT! Len said that she has a bionic sized booty.
Their scores tonight were 8, 8 and 9 a 25 out of 30.

The last dancers tonight were Ty and his partner Chelsie hoping to wrangle the foxtrot. Ty had to keep reminding Chelsie that he had no idea what she was talking about. They looked so sweet together. He looked like Fred Astaire.
Carrie Ann said that Ty is the most improved by miles. Len said that it was a bit still and lacked musicality but that was fantastic, the whole thing. Bruno said that Chelsie is turning out to be a miracle worker with Ty.
They received 8, 8 and 7 tonight andthere were many boos for the 7 from Bruno. A 23 out of 30.
Tomorrow night on Dancing With The Stars,Cloris Leachman returns with Corky Ballas and Hall and Oats will sing their hit song Maneater at 8 PM ET on ABC.
