Dancing With The Stars season 7 contestant and Access Hollywood host Nancy O’Dell, withdrew from the competition even before Dancing With The Stars went to air a few weeks ago. During rehearsals she had torn the meniscus in her knee and was told by doctors that it would require surgery to repair it. She underwent that procedure yesterday.

In an interview with USA weekend, Nancy O’Dellrecalls the exact moment that the injury occurred while doing a salsa move with her pro partner Tony Dovolani.

“I stepped back on my leg and my knee buckled,” Nancy O’Dellsaid.

Although she fell to the floor, she got back up and continued to rehearse thinking that she had only acquired a sprain. The truth was revealed a few days later when the swelling would not go down and doctors recommended an MRI.

Nancy O’Dell told the newspaper that she would have kept dancing if her injury was near the end of the season, but there was no way she could persevere for another 13 weeks.

Nancy O’Dell has a lot on her plate in the coming months and is eager to get back on her feet. She also has a publicity tour coming up for her just-published book, Full of Life: Mom-to-Mom Tips I Wish Someone Had Told Me When I Was Pregnant.

Of course she will be keeping up with Access Hollywood and Dancing With The Stars and hopes to be back on the show next season if her knee allows!
