In eight seasons, Dancing With The Stars has never had a cast like this. Already we have seen shocking injuries, shocking dance moves and a shocking escape as last week, fans votes rescued the Woz from the dance off and Denise and Maks were sent home. This week the dancers must perform two new dances, the Lindy Hop and the Argentine Tango and to top itall off, tomorrow night on Dancing With The Starsthere will be a double elimination.
Len explained what the new dances onDancing With The Starswere all about, sayingin theArgentine Tango you can be cheek to cheek or very wide apart, the dance has sexuality and passion and the Lindy Hop is a fun dance with lots of kicks, lots of tricks and lifts…yes Carrie Ann a lift is legal this week!
First up tonight on Dancing With The Starswere David and his pro partner Kym doing the Lindy Hop. They found the most challenging part of the dance was making it look fun and not too difficult. David and Kym headed out to a Lindy group to connect with the essence of the dance. The dance is very similar to the Jitterbug. Their routine was excellent. It had major high energy!
Len said the dance had fun and energy and captured the flavor of the dance, but he lost a little footwork in the middle. Bruno said that the good thing is that David comes out pumped up and going for it, but he lost a little timingon the footwork. Carrie Ann said that he is not the youngest cookie of group and she loved it.
Their scores were 8, 7 and 7 a 22 out of 30.
Next Lil’ Kim and her partner Derek Houghwere performing the Argentine Tango. Lil’ Kim said that the most challenging thing is keeping serious and trying to learn the intricate moves at the same time. They did a great job, but not as sensual as I thought it would be.
Bruno said it was a terrific Tango with terrific choreography. Carrie Ann said that Kym is the real deal, the drama she encompasses in her body and her lines are beautiful. Len said that he was absolutely knocked out with the choreography, but he wasn’t keen on the sensuality and it was lacking.
They received scores of 9, 8 and 10 from Bruno. 27 out of 30.
Next on the floor tonight is country singer Chuck and his partner Julianne. Tonight they are performing the Lindy Hop. Chuck was freaking out about flipping over Julianne and landing on his head. He had hurt himself when he was younger, so Julianne took the move out. It was okay, but without the lifts and flips it wasn’t great.
Carrie Ann said that she liked it and saw that they were having fun, but they have to go for it. Len said that it was okay, but Chuck needs to come up to a higher level and come back fighting. Bruno said that he liked the style, but it was a bit loose around the edges.
They were given scores of 8, 7 and 7 a score of 22 out of 30.
The fourth couple to dance tonight on Dancing With The Starswere Lawrence and Edyta. They were doing the Argentine Tango. Lawrence was focusing on the steps so much that he had difficulty getting into the character of the Tango. It was good, a little stiff though and lacked sensuality.
Len said that it is a difficult dance to portray and Lawrence did a good job, however it was heavy and lacked passion. Bruno said that he thought it was menacing and intense. He needed to glide across the dance floor. Carrie Ann said that he had power and looked a little afraid of Edyta’s sensuality.
Their scores were 7, 5 and 7 a 19 out of 30.
Next out of the gate tonight is the cowboy Ty and his partner Chelsie. They are dancing the Lindy Hop. Ty was made to practice on his own so he could lead himself when he needed to. Ty was excited to be agressive, hoping it would help him with his nerves…let’s hope he doesn’t kill Chelsie in the process! Awesome routine, Ty is powerful.
Bruno said Tywas jumping and kicking with the vitality of a young stallion. Carrie Ann said Ty Murray is a dancer. Len said Ty Murray in a hurry. It was great.
Their scores were 9, 8 and 8 a score of 25 out of 30.
Next up were Steve and his partner Karina. This week they are dancing the Argentine Tango. Steve says the geeks shall inherit the earth. He is still creepy, but they had sensuality for sure!
Carrie Ann said that tonight it felt their dance was really long and there was no passion. Len said well done for coming out and attempting a proper tango and there is an improvement from last week. Bruno said that they love Steve, but his Tango stunk.
They received scores of 4, 4 and 4 a triple 4 and a score of 12 out of 30.
Melissa and Tony were next on Dancing With The Starsand this week they are dancing the Lindy Hop. Melissa wanted to challenge herself like Carrie Ann wanted her too. FANTASTIC!!!!!!
Len said that Melissa has the potential to go all the way. Bruno said truly eye popping fun and bursting with excitement. Carrie Ann high-fived them and said now I am impressed and that was Tony’s best choreography ever!
The judges gave them 10, 9 and 10! A 29 out of 30!
Holly and Dmitry were performing the Argentine Tango next. Holly was having difficulty as she injured her ribs last week and it was still hurting her. She fought through the pain and danced. The choreography is lacking, but in all fairness to Dmitry, what can you do with her?
Bruno said a bad start and it kept getting worse. Carrie Ann said that she knows there is a lot of pressure with the double elimination, but she feels like Holly is not building strength. Len said he thought the routine was fantastic? Huh??? He said that there is a light at the end of the tunnel and he sees an improvement.
They received 5, 6 and 5 a 16 out of 30.
Next Steve-O and Lacey hit the floor with the Lindy Hop. Steve-O was taking the dances too serious, so Lacey dressed him up like a clown. No lifts, but cute!
Carrie Ann said at least Steve got through the routine and sees him letting go. Len said the good news ishe didn’t go wrong and got through the routine. Bruno said Steve-O this was more hopping mad then the Lindy Hop and heneeds to listen to the music.
They were given scores of 5, 5 and 5 a 15 out of 30.
The sexy Gilles was up next with Cheryl and this week they are dancing the Argentine Tango. Yummy! Gilles thought it would be challenging to keep up with Cheryl. It was super sexy.
Len said it was another fantastic performance. He saw everything in their routine. Bruno said ladies and gentleman this is the quintessential latin lover. Carrie Ann said she can’t feel her face. She said she couldn’t tell who was the professional and who was the star.
They received triple 10′s! 30 out of 30 and the first perfect score of this season.
In the last dance spot tonight onDancing With The Starswere Shawn Johnson and Mark dancing the Lindy Hop. Shawn took Mark to the gym and had him try to take a walk across the balance beam. Shawn said flips and tricks were right up her alley. YAY! It was fantastic, but Shawn needs to bounce more like a dancer and not a gymnast.
Bruno said Shawn you really have given us a fantastic feast of tricks and gymnastics, but you need a little more dancing. Carrie Ann said that she is completely taken in, but she is a little heavy on her feet. Len said there were too many tricks and a little more dancing needed. Len got BOOED!
Their scores were 8, 8 and 9 a score of 25 out of 30.
Remember tomorrow night at 9 PM ET there is a double elimination on DWTS and Boyz 2Men will perform.
