For the past several months, Heidi Klum, Tim Gunn, and a new cast of designers have been filming a show that that they didn’t even know would air. The Weinstein Company, Bravo, and Lifetime havebeen in a legal battle over rights to the show. Finally, they havecome to some sort of agreement, which means Project Runway will live to see another season.
According to Perez Hilton, the battle is over and TheWeinstein Company has agreed to pay Bravo and NBC to moveProject Runway to the Lifetime Network. The president and CEO of Lifetime Networks, Andrea Wong said, “I couldn’t be more excited that Lifetime will bring its viewers an amazing, all-new season of Project Runway this summer….All of us at Lifetime are thrilled to move forward with Heidi, Tim, Nina, Michael, The Weinstein Company and the entire Project Runway team.”
Season six of the show will begin airing this summer. And don’t worry fashionistas – the new agreement further guarantees that Project Runwaywill run onLifetime for the next five years. The network will also be airing the spinoff series Models of the Runway.
Although season six has been filmed to completion, the three finalists’ names were not revealed during their runway shows on the finale.
