April 08, 2009 01:00 PM by Britteny Elrick

How could we forget the gorgeous Aussie, Michael Johns, who was ousted fromAmerican Idolmuch to the dismay of millions of women? Well Michael has been busy since he finished up the American Idoltour and he’s been working on something that his fans are going to be quite happy about…

This year, when the “judges save” rule was introduced on American Idol, Michael Johns was one of the contestants that was mentioned along with Jennifer Hudson and Chris Daughtry, who got let go far too soon. Michael says of his early departure, “Talk about the chance of a lifetime. ‘Idol’ allowed me to introduce myself to the world and I plan on making the most of that opportunity.”

Well, he certainly has. Now Michael’s debut album Hold Back My Heart will be released on iTunes on April 14, with the radio tracks hitting airwaves on the 21. The album will be available in stores on June 23. Michael talks about his dreams coming true: “I remember driving down the freeway at age 15 and Pearl Jam’s ‘Daughter’ was on the radio,” Michael recalls. “I don’t know what it was about that song, but afterward I kept singing it over and over. The feeling it gave me made me say, ‘I have to do this for life.’ I started a band a few months later and have been going ever since. I never dreamed it would take me here.”

Along with working on his album, Michael also recorded the song Another Christmas for the Red Cross and co-wrote songs for the documentary Don’t Look Down and also a track on Brook White’s new album.
