On last night’s American Idol , the contestants were all over the spectrum from amazing to positively dreadful, as Simon Cowell would say. Adam Lambert earned a standing ovation from Simon with his version of Mad World, but some of the other contestants weren’t such a hit. There were a few contestants in particular who could very well be at risk for elimination…
Scott McIntyre tried to do something different last night by bring out his electric guitar and stepping away from the piano. As he said, “he’s trying to show his punk side.” Yea, Scott. We believe that about as much as we believe that Simon and Paula have never made out. Unfortunately, because I do love Scott, I think that he was way too pitchy last night and his song choices are getting worse by the week. He tends to pick overly cheesy songs and he’s just not entertaining anymore.
Another one who failed to impress was Lil Rounds. She did a “karaoke” and copycat version of What’s Love Got To Do With It. The judges feel she is not showing her artistry. We all know the girl can sing, but can she do anything different? Along the same line as Lil was Kris Allen. He was doing so well, but the arrangement of his song was just horrible. You could barely hear him sing as he drowned in the loud trumpets behind him. Although I still feel Kris has a good enough fan base to make it though, he might be in the bottom three.
In my opinion, the best of the night was my boy Adam Lambert – by a mile. Then Matt Giraud, who really let his performer side come out, Allison Iraheta, and then Anoop Dawg and Danny are tied somewhere in the middle. Find out who gets eliminated tonight, and see if the judges decide to keep them in the competition!
