This week on American Idol the movie and music worlds will collide. The theme for the contestants this week is “Idols at the Movies,” and the guest mentor will be Director, Quentin Tarantino. Known for making thought-provoking andunique films, Quentin will coach the Idolson their song choices this week. I don’t know about you but I think it’s going to be a pretty good week…
Quentin Tarantino, albeit not a songwriter or musician, is a world renowned filmmaker, who knows a thing or two about pop culture. If you’ve ever seen one of Tarantino’s movies such as: Reservoir Dogs, Kill Bill, or Pulp Fiction, you know that pop music is an integral part of his directorial process.
On season three of American Idol, Quentin made a brief visit as a guest judge, where he delivered frank but useful criticism to the contestants – particularly those who just couldn’t seem to get the point such as Diana DeGarmo. Hopefully, this means that he will be able to get through to those middle of the road singers like Anoop Desaiand Lil Rounds, who don’tseem to be progressing in their artistrylike some of the other Idols. Although Quentin will not be a judge this time, we all look forward to the expertise and coaching that he will bring to the show.
