American Idol: Jason Castro’s Record Deal

April 16, 2009 01:00 PM by Britteny Elrick

Jason Castro. We loved your eyes. We loved your smile. We hated your hair. But seriously, Jason did have an amazing voice when he chose the right songs. The right songs being Over The Rainbow and Hallelujah, both of which were phenomenal. So what ever happened to this hippie turned third runner-up on American Idol?

Well, like many other Idol finalists before him,Jason has scored a record deal. And not just some shoddy label you’ve never heard of, we’re talking Atlantic Records. If that isn’t awesome enough, then you may also be interested in knowing who he is collaborating with on the album – none other than new Idol judge and song writerKara DioGuardi!

The official press release from Atlantic states that Jason is already hard at work on his debut album, which should be out in stores by this summer. In case you’re wondering, there will be a version of Hallelujah on the album, which Simon dubbed “brilliant.” The brilliant song will also be featured on the upcoming movie “Amar A Morir,” also to be released this summer.

But all of this work doesn’t mean that Jason is too busy to help others. Last year, he participated in a Garland, Texas Christmas concert to benefit the Last Best Education Foundation, and he also supports The Recording Academy’s MusiCares Foundation.

Congratulations Jason and we’ll be looking forward to the album release!
