American Idol: Fantasia Barrino’s New Reality Show

Single mom, Fantasia Barrino, became a household name after winning the third season of American Idol. Since then, she has penned a New York best-selling autobiography Life Is Not A Fairy Tale, which was turned into a Lifetime movie starring herself. She also starred in the Broadway play The Color Purple and has been nominated for nine Grammies. All of these accomplishments, combined with her very tough upbringing have made for one very interesting life. And now we’re going to get to see what it’s like on the inside…
Fantasia has signed to do a candid reality TV series with VH1, which will chronicle herlife and how she copes with her new found fame. According to VH1 Executive Vice President, Jeff Olde, “Fantasia has one of the most fascinating stories in show business, from her tough upbringing to her meteoric rise on the national scene thanks to American Idol. Her challenges from fame and her unwillingness to fail have combined to create a larger-than-life talent who appeals to music lovers around the world. So many people wanted to work with her on this, but Fantasia is now part of the VH1 family, and we’re so happy to have her.”
“Fantasia’s life has been an open book. But at 24 years old, her story has just begun,” said Executive Producer, Randy Barbato. “We look forward to smashing expectations and revealing the fresh, funny and unexpected side of this one-of-a-kind country girl/superstar.”
The show is set to premiere early 2010.
