The Real World Brooklyn star Ryan Conklin is packing his bags for Iraq. The 23 year old reality TV star joined the army when he was 17 and was serving just three years ago.Ryan recently got word that he would be redeployed to Iraq while he was filmingMTV ‘s The Real World Brooklyn and assomeone who opposes the war, you can imagine he had a lot ofmixed feelings about it….
Last Wednesday, Ryan said, “I want to get this thing started, because the sooner I do it, the sooner it’ll be over. I’m kind of just getting antsy with time.” As far as being redeployed he says, “I knew it could happen. I really wish it never did, but it did.”
In an interview in Fort Bragg, N.C. Ryan said that there are probablythousandsof reserved soldiers in his brigade who are dealing with the same thing right now. “They’re all here. They’re all pretty bitter. … Misery loves company, so we stick together.”
Through all of the tough times, Ryan still doesn’t have regrets about his decision. “It’s opened my eyes to see this, do things and learn things about myself and other people â⬔ and in any other environment, I wouldn’t have gotten that experience. … It’s kind of cool just to look back at what I did and actually be proud of what I did. If I could do it all over again, I’d do it again,”Ryan said.
He plans to enroll in film school when he gets back, and he might even try to film somedocumentaries while he’s deployed.
