American Idol: Is Simon Trying To Get More Money?
April 21, 2009 05:00 PM by Britteny Elrick

Recently, we reported that Simon Cowell might possibly be leaving American Idol next year when his contract runs out. Simon clarified that this was due to his overwhelming schedule accompanied by international commutes. Now people are wondering, was Simon just saying that so he can try to negotiate a better offer? Find out what he had to say…
Yesterday, Simon addressed the rumors with the New York Times stating, “It’s not negotiating. I have as good a relationship with the people from Fox as you possibly can have. They’ve become friends. I don’t bull them… I don’t want to get bored, and I don’t want the audience to get bored.”
Maybe Simon doesn’t realize that the most boring thing that could happen to Idol, is Simon leaving the show. Can we say snoozefest? He has said that the contract with Idol is the only one that will run out next year, and he can’t imagine not doing his other shows, such as Britain’s Got Talent or the X Factor. Simon continues, “When I signed the latest extension on Idol through next season, it felt like that was going to be the right amount of time. It still feels right.”
Simon concludes by saying that the show must go on: “I think the show could go on for another 5 or 10 years. It would just be a different type show.”Well, I don’t know about you guys, but in my opinion it would be pretty lame without Simon.
