The winner of Survivor: Africa is facing a whole new battle. Ethan Zohn was diagnosed with rare form of CD20-positive Hodgkin’s lymphoma on April 30. As you can imagine, he is looking at the disease as just another challenge that he will overcome…
Ethan first went to the doctor for a skin condition, when he experienced itching and night sweats. The doctors thought he had stage two Hodgkin’s disease, but then they found a swollen lymph node on the left side of his chest. “This is the ultimate game of Survivor and there’s really only one outcome, and that’s to win,” Ethan told PEOPLE. “There’s no other option.” Ethan started chemotherapy last week.
Both Ethan and his girlfriend have lost parents to cancer. “My life flashed before my eyes,” Zohn said. “My hair is my identity.I’ll get a Mohawk or something fun that I’ve always wanted to do,I’ll roll with the punches as it comes to me. That’s how I work,” he says. “I’m not getting voted out of this one.
