Life & Style caught up with season seven’s Biggest Loser Helen Phillips, to discuss her 140 pound weight loss and how it feels to have her brand new body. She alsoaddresses her goals for the future and how it was living at the ranch…
“My life has just begun again,” she told Life & Style at NYC’s posh Hotel Gansevoort on May 13. “I want to be a better person. I want to pay it back,” says the 5-foot-6, 117-pound mom of three. “I want all those middle-aged people out there to know it all starts with them. If I could do it, anyone can.” Here’s how she accomplished her goal.
How does it feel to be this season’s winner?
I have a great sense of accomplishment. I finished my journey and finished it on top.
Did you think you were going to win?
When I got to the ranch, I never thought I’d make it through the first few weeks. I thought, Maybe I’ll lose 50, 60 pounds here, but they’ll probably end up sending me back because these are all young kids. But I got stronger week by week, and I started losing weight. I started believing in myself. When that happened, I was like, “You’re not getting rid of me. I’m staying, and I’m going to win.”
What are your current body goals? Do you want to tone?
My trainer is going to help me tone. At my age, I do have a little bit of saggy skin, which I was worried about. But the doctor told me to wait a year [before considering surgery to remove it]. The doctor said if I start muscle toning, it’ll all be gone, no stretch marks.
