It is a long-standing tradition for Idol winners to sing at the NBA finals. Walking in the footsteps of those before him, American Idolchampion, Kris Allen, will be singing the national anthem today before game 2 of the Finals. Kris will be performing at the Staples Center, where the L.A. Lakers will battle the Orlando Magic.
The Los Angeles Times reported that Kris is not a Laker fan, considering he is from Conway, Arkansas. He also mentioned that he wouldn’t be changing it up in the same way Tyrese did when he sang at the Staples Center and changed “our flag was still there” to “our Lakers were still there.” The alteration was not warmly received.
In true humble fashion, Kris said, “I just want to get through it and not make any mistakes.” He also said it wouldn’t hurt if he could meet Kobe Bryant while he’s there.
