So You Think You Can Dance loses two more tonight and, hopefully, it is not someone we really, really admire, like Evan and Randi. Please be safe, Please be safe, Sorry, I was asking the dancing Gods for a favor. Anyway, after one of the best overall dance performances of the season from the dancers, it will be tough to see probably one or two couples in the bottom three. But, this is a competition and there can be only one in the end.
Cat Deeley introduced the group dancer number and another superb group performance, a funky contemporary Art Gallery routine, Cat Deeley in a shinny dress, came out to set us up for another elimination of one guy and one girl from the ranks leaving us with the Top 12.
After a quick chat with Nigel, Mary and Mia Michaels, Cat got right into the hunt for the bottom three couples with Carla and Vitolio and Evan and Randi in the first group. Cat announced that Evan and Randi were safe, sending Karla and Vitolio to the bottom three.
Cat called out the second group of Janette and Brandon, who were very well received by the judges and they were immediately pronounced safe. Kayla and Kopono’s vampire routine and Melissa and Ade’s Ballet number were both on the chopping block with one maybe going to the bottom three. Cat then announced that poor Kayla and Kopono were the second couple to head in the bottom three.
The final two couples, Jason and Caitlin’s alien procreation dance and Phillip and Jeanine’s Hip-Hop were the final two to be seen and it was really a shock to see Phillip and Jeanine were headed to the bottom three as a contemporary ballet couple danced to allow the couples time to prepare.
The six solos were paraded across the stage. Karla – not so good; Vitolio – OK; Kayla – always beautiful; Kopono – I didn’t get it; Jeanine – good ballerina; Phillip – did his usual Hip-Hop stuff, always enjoyable. Judges have a tough one here. If I had to guess, I’d say Karla and Kopono, but I am not the judges. Cat then sent the judges off and Kelly Clarkson sang her latest hit.
Nigel gave us the results starting with the girls starting with Jeanine and Nigel said that her solo was strong and to sit down. Kayla was a favorite according to Nigel but he said her solo was static. Karla was called a good dancer by Nigel but he said she has not captured the star quality and was leaving. (told you so)
Nigel then called the guys forward and Phillip was the first called forward and said that he was safe. Vitolio was called a brilliant presenter and Kopono’s solo was called weak, but was sent to safety and Vitolio was sent home. (Well, one out of two wasn’t bad, even though the judges called Kopono weak.)
So we now have the Top 12 and next Wednesday we will have the Top 12 desperately wanting a place in the Top 10.
