So You Think You Can Dance Thins Out The Herd
July 16, 2009 07:12 PM by DA Southern

So You Think You Can Dance has only America to find fault with tonight as the choice of who goes home will be revealed to us bringing the magic number to eight as we inch ever so close to the winner of Season 5. Although we are several weeks away from that, this is a tough season to vote overall.
The ever so gracious host, Cat Deeley, introduced the group dance number and the dancers were really quite sensational in the Asian-inspired Wade Robson routine done to a Janet Jackson song as they all showed why they were in the Top 10. Cat Deeley then announced thatSo You Think You Can Dance had received 4 Emmy nominations for choreography routines from last season.

Cat then announced the judges, sans Nigel who was receiving an honorary degree across the pond. Cat got right into who was safe and not-so-safe with the first group after we saw last night’s routines quickly blast past our bloodshot eyes. Wait, maybe that’s just me.
Cat brought the ladies out to reveal the bottom two vote getters. Janette was safe; Randi was in the bottom two for the evening, darn it all; Jeanine was safe; Kayla and Mellissa were left and Melissa as the second girl in the bottom two.

Cat had the guys come out after a brief look at some of the auditions that are already taking place for season 6. Jason was first to be told that he was safe; Evan’s personality carried the day and he was told that he was safe; Kopono, in no real shock, was sent to the bottom two, leaving Ade and Brandon with everyone knowing that Brandon was totally safe. So, Ade, took his place in the bottom two with Kopono, but probably will be safe in the end.

Pointless solo’s from the bottom four ensued as the fate of the two going home was already sealed and then The Black Eyed Peas sang a Pea song and boy was Fergie, Fergie-licious.

At last, we saw the last of Randi and Kopono as America booted out a partnership and we will be sad to see them both go as the same scene will repeat itself over the next several weeks as Season 5 will blend itself seamlessly into Season 6.
