There has been so much drama surrounding the upcoming season of American Idoland who will be returning. We know for sure that Ryan Seacrestwill be back after scoring a sweet $45 million/three-year contract with FOX. Simon Cowell, of course, has been all over the news in regards to his reported new $144 million dollar salary, so he isn’t going anywhere. The verdict on Paula Abdul, however, is still out…
“Very sadly, it does not appear that she’s going to be back on ‘Idol,’ ” David Sonenberg, Abdul’s manager, told The Los AngelesTimes. David went on to say that they haven’t even received a proposal from 19 Entertainment yet, and auditions for season 9 are set to begin filmingAugust 6.
“I find it under these circumstances particularly unusual; I think unnecessarily hurtful,” David said of the contract holdup. “I find it kind of unconscionable and certainly rude and disrespectful that they haven’t stepped up and said what they want to do.”According to him, he has “reached out to the head of business affairs at 19″ and told FOX that “Paula would love to be on the show.” He said FOX told him he would hear from them, but “I have not received any proposal whatsoever.”
“She’s not a happy camper as a result of what’s going on. She’s hurt. She’s angry,” David continued. “I think at this point we’re going to be considering everything, including some kind of a competition show. She has tremendous ideas for a whole variety of shows.”
What? Idol can’t go on without the incessant ramblings of Paula…
