August 13, 2009 05:00 PM by Britteny Elrick

American Idolchamp Kelly Clarkson’s recent cover shoot for Self Magazine has caused quite a stir. Claims that she was over-airbrushed to appear more thin have been denied by the magazine’s editor, who says they simply made her look her personal best. Find out what Kelly had to say on the topic of confidence, body issues, and weight loss

“When people talk about my weight, I’m like, ‘You seem to have a problem with it; I don’t. I’m fine!’,” Kelly said in the September issue of Self according to Usmagazine.com.“My happy weight changes. Sometimes I eat more; sometimes I play more.”

As far as Kelly’s cardio workout routine, she says, “It’s like bootcamp! You never work out more than 35 minutes, but it’s so intense , It makes me feel like G.I. Jane. It’s very empowering. I feel like I can whup ass!” “I do it totally for my psyche,” she adds. “I’m much better when those endorphins are going. It’s a release. And I also love food, so there’s a payoff!”

But as far as dieting, you can forget about it.”For me, it’s the times when I’m not paying attention that I end up losing weight. But I’m never trying to lose weight – or gain it. I’m just being!” shesays.
