The Biggest Loser Is A Big Surprise
September 22, 2009 09:44 PM by DA Southern

The Biggest Loser, with the biggest bunch ever, is already headed for their first gargantuan challenge with the entire Loser squad trying to lose enough weight to keep everybody safe for yet another week. We still haven’t decided if the tandem trainer tag-team of Jillian and Bob is the way to go yet, but with the impressive numbers from week one, maybe it is a good thing. With that being said, we head into week two which usually test the resolve of the Losers as their bodies all seemingly rebel against the losing trends that they have begun.
Already with the sad stuff, Host, Allison Sweeney announces a true team challenge by telling the Losers that if they lose a combined one hundred and fifty pounds, no one goes home. But week two traditionally being what it is on The Biggest Loser, a down week, good luck with that.

The Losers knew the task was massive and Daniel was front and center recalling that he only lost three pounds in week during last season. Coach Mo was looking to be the motivator this week and told Julio that he owed him since he lost so few pounds.
Julio’s safety ethic seemed to impress the trainers but, more than that, Bo and Jillian seemed a bit shocked that this early in the season, there were already events in place to keep everyone safe. Jillian was so pragmatic that she knew the week two curse and suggested just picking two to go home right now and told the Losers not to starve themselves.
Drama and Stress
Mo was playing the eternal motivator and went to the hospital to tell Tracey that she had another chance to stay at the ranch. Bob and Dina were at odds as Bob was convincing Dina to chill out saying that stress could knock her pout of the game. Shay was her usually mess, (that girl is getting on my nerves already), as she was getting on Julio for going to the bathroom. Granted it was a two hour and nineteen minute bathroom break, but hey, when a guy has to go, a guy has to go.

Tracey finally came back and to tell you the truth, she looked weak and was on a strict regiment according to the doctors. Doesn’t look as though she will be of any use, but if nothing else, an extra body could push them close to the weight needed for everyone to stay. If they don’t make it, she is so gone with Julio probably, if it was solely based on work ethic.
Allison Sweeney greeted the Losers with guest Curtis Stone who shared nutrition tips with the losers. Allison then told the Losers that if they chose wisely, a fifteen pound advantage was the prize to give the Losers at least a fighting chance to keep everyone safe for the week.

Mo and Tracey scored as did Shay and Danny, Liz and Danny and Amanda and Rebecca. The winning streak came to a close as Abby and Allen and Antoine and Sean choked on the next nutrition questions. With Ruby and Dina holding the fate of the group in their hands, they scored the much needed point when they answered the question about adding protein to a snack correctly giving a group the fifteen pounds advantage needed at the weigh in.
The Challenge
It was all about continuing to give the Losers an advantage at the next weigh-in and the challenge was all about getting everyone across various beams to ultimately get another more pounds shaved off their weigh-in goal.
The challenge had four rafts separated by balance beams that the Losers had to traverse for pounds deducted at weigh-in. Everyone had to get across the beams for the pounds to be rewarded and each beam became increasingly more difficult.

The Losers actually did an excellent job working together and got five pounds for the first raft, five for the second, phone calls for the third and ten pounds for the last one. In the end, the group won the challenge leaving them 115 pounds for the weigh-in.
The Weigh-In
After a trying Last Chance Work Out where Jillian had her nerves tested with Julio’s lack of work ethic, (that guy should have left last week) and Bob’s inability to get Shay to quit being Miss Victim, we got to the weigh-in and will see if the group had it in them to pull this one out.
Amanda and Rebecca lost 4 and 6 pounds, 10 total, for a 1.98% total team loss
Tracey and Mo lost a surprising 10 and 9 pounds, 19 total, for a 3.31% total loss
Antione and Sean lost 8 and 11 pounds, 19 pounds total, for a 2.26% total loss
Allen and Abby lost 10 and 11 pounds, 21 total, for a 3.90% total loss
Liz and Danny lost 10 and 12 pounds, 22 total, for a 3.32% total loss
Rudy and Dina lost 14 and 8 pounds, 22 total, for a 3.34% total loss
Julio unbelievably lost 19 pounds for a 4.82% total loss
Daniel and Shay lost 7 and 16 pounds, 23 total, for a 3.03% total loss smashing the original goal of 150 pounds by five pounds, breaking the second week curse and keeping everyone safe. Not a bad week for the Losers overall.
