So You Think You Can Dance: Nigel Misses Mardi Gras

New Orleans was so explosive tonight, it looked like Mardi Gras on this episode of So You Think You Can Dance on FOX. It felt a little strange without Nigel who was away, however Adam (with Mary’s help) kept us entertained and wanting more. I just hope someone saved a copy of the evening’s fun for Nigel, he may never want to go away again.
So You Think You Can Dance on FOX was embraced tonight by many great performances, which was such a breath of fresh air after the lack of talent in Atlanta last night. The room filled with energy as soon as Shelby walked in and showed us what “New Orleans Bounce” dancing was all about. He started the night with a ticket to Vegas. I don’t think I have ever seen a dancer as energetic as he was… well until Eric auditioned. Eric was pumped up on energy drinks, 6 of them to be exact. Too bad his energy did not reflect positively on his performance.
Following all the energy we were graced with a ballroom dancing couple who perform at the theater. It was one of the most breathtaking performances to date, it looked more like couples figure ice skating, and kept us wanting more. And once again they made So You Think You Can Dance history by sending Kimberly to Vegas. Seems like they have been making alot of history on So You Think You Can Dance lately.
Oddly enough the one thing we lacked tonight on So You Think You Can Dance (besides Nigel) were the strange performances. Coincidence? I am sure, we love Nigel! We did get our share of heartbreaking stories though. We met Diana, who came to audition at the urging of her family despite the fact that her grandfather was ill. Well, while she was at the auditions, he passed away. She broke down after her performance, but during you would have never known unless she told you. She got sent to choreography and then got her ticket.
The most entertaining part of the tonight’s episode of So You Think You Can Dance on FOX actually had nothing to do with the performances. Well, maybe just a little to do with them, but it was Mary’s list of “what NOT to do to impress the judges” and Adam got on stage to show the contestants what not to do. Topping Mary’s list were rubbing body parts and men’s booty shaking, so you can just imagine the fun we had watching Adam. As I said, I only hope Nigel is able to see what we saw tonight.
Next week So You Think You Can Dance on FOX takes us to Salt Lake City, UT for the final audition episode. Then they head to Vegas to narrow the contestants down from 150 to the top 20. It looks like it is going to be alot of fun.
