Ghost Hunters: Sounds Of Footsteps

As I sit at home with the flu, I really hoped that this episode of Ghost Hunters delivered something worth me staying awake — and although nothing too thrilling was captured, it was actually a good episode.  First up, the TAPS team ventured to Massachusetts and boarded the USS Salem.  After a crazy night of eerie sounds, they moved on to Ontario, Canada to seek spirits in an old jail with a morbid history.

Boarding A Battleship

For their first investigation, the TAPS team was excited about touring yet another battleship.  The USS Salem had loads of paranormal reports, which was evident after they took their tour.  Some people have claimed to see a tour guide named John in one part of the ship — but there is no tour guide that works on the ship and nobody by the name of John.  There were also reports of ghosts in the former delivery room and shadowy figures walking around.

During the start of their investigation, Jason and Grant heard footsteps almost immediately.  Then Grant spotted something moving in the distance.  They were hoping that some of the paranormal events had been captured on film.

Jason and Grant made their way to the ship’s barbershop when they were stunned to hear more footsteps.  They quietly listened while looking at each other in an effort to discern the origin.  They were able to compare the sounds they were hearing to the footsteps of live people, and they claimed it sounded entirely different.

Dave and Tango, who seem to be the comic relief of the show anymore, went into the bakery where they found a hard piece of chocolate cake on the floor — a really old piece of chocolate cake.  Naturally, Steve dared Tango to eat it.  Moments later they started hearing weird banging sounds, too.  When Steve yelled, “Hello” at the sounds, it quickly stopped.

After analyzing all of the footage, they did the traditional reveal of evidence.  They discussed the personal accounts they had, including all the sounds of footsteps and the shadowy figure that was spotted.  They then played an audio clip with a very subtle voice.  The battleship representative was enthralled.  He was super excited about their results.

Oh, Canada

The team then ventured to Ontario, Canada to visit the Cornwell Jail.  The building looked very awesome.  Nice and creepy.  It was open from 1834 and closed in 2002.  The jail was able to hold 33 inmates at any given time.  Down in solitary confinement, the tour guide told them there was a man who spent the night there before he was hung.  There are also reports of seeing and hearing things that don’t belong.  In the hallway, there have been reports of a woman screaming.  After doing some research, they learned there was a woman who was raped and murdered by some of the inmates.

After the tour, the guys set up the equipment and shut the lights off.  During the investigation, Steve and Tango went to some of the jail cells and tried speaking with the spirits.  Steve invited the ghosts into the jail cell with them.  “We’re not prisoners, we just come and go as we please,” Steve said.  Amy and Kris were down near solitary confinement when they started to feel really weird.  They saw all of the wires and cables above them, which were sending off a strong electromagnetic reading.  That is something that generally makes people feel sick and paranoid, so they quickly got out of there.

As Jason and Grant were checking out some jail cells, Jason jumped when one of the doors behind him slammed shut.

During the reveal, Jason and Grant showed video of the moment when the jail cell slammed shut.  Then they played a piece of audio from the area in which the woman was reportedly raped and killed.  It sounded almost like a woman yelling.  Although they captured several weird things, the TAPS team wasn’t comfortable saying the jail is haunted.  They said it would take a bit more investigative work.

The flu isn’t fun at all, but at least this episode was.
