Survivor: Richard Hatch Released From Prison

October 17, 2009 02:00 PM by Britteny Elrick

People Richard Hatch

The original Survivor, Richard Hatch, has finally been released from the Barnstable County jail… again. Richard, who was originally serving a 51 month federal tax evasion sentence, became a free man yesterday morning.  He was escorted to his home by a sheriff and will now be serving three years under home supervision.

According to the Associated Press, Richard must check in with his probation officer on a regular basis and will not be able to leave Rhode Island without permission.  Oh, but that’s not all.  He must also participate in a mental health program (would that have anything to do with the naked incident?), get a job, and pay all the back taxes he owes.

Richard was already on house arrest last August when he participated in TV interviews that violated his sentence and resulted in more jail time.  Despite attempts by the American Civil Liberties Union calling for Richard’s release, he was denied.  Richard also tried to plea that he was discriminated against because of his sexual orientation during the original tax evasion sentence.  To no avail.

Poor Richard.
