Jason Mesnick certainly left a bad taste in the mouths of most American women, mainly his ex-fiance Melissa Rycroft. Now that he has officially proposed to second runner-up, Molly Malaney, ever wonder what her parents are thinking? Molly had made it very clear while on The Bachelor that her parent’s approval was a necessary component of her relationships. Keep reading to hear what her dad had to say about the engagement…
According to a report from The Grand Rapids Press, Jason Mesnick made sure to clear his proposal plans with Molly’s parents. “Jason called us first,” Mike Malaney told reporters in a phone interview. “He sent Molly out to get her nails done, and he wanted to run it by us before he asked her (to marry him). We’ve already determined that he’s a good guy.”
“Molly was very surprised; she hadn’t expected it to happen right then even though we all knew it was a matter of time,” he continued. “She was real excited. It was a short conversation, and they hadn’t made any plans yet. We just found out ourselves at 10:30 (Tuesday night), so this is all breaking very rapidly.”
He went on to say that he feels the long distance has strengthened their relationship. “They are two smart, intelligent people who obviously did not rush into anything,” he said. “Sometimes a long distance relationship is a good way for people to really get to know each other, and they know each other well now. They are ready to take the next step.”
