Dancing With The Stars 10/27/09: Dance Off and Double Elimination

October 27, 2009 07:08 PM by Paulene Hinds

Tonight Taylor Swift started the show with her hit, Jump Then Fall on Dancing with the Stars. This young lady has grown up to be a remarkable woman. Tom Bergeron commented that she is up for Entertainer of The Year for the CMA’s that will be broadcast on ABC.  In a Dancing with the Stars first, the couple with the lowest combined scores will be eliminated, while the second and third couple with lowest combined scores will face the judges one last time in a dance-off to save their spot in the competition. The two couples will perform a short dance routine of their choosing that they have secretly prepared for the dance-off, and the judges’ scores for the dance-off routine will determine their fate.

The first couples safe was announced by Tom Bergeron and they were Joanna and Derek and Mark and Lacey. These two couples were now avoiding the dance-off. Having made it past the half-way point, the couples were excited to not have to leave the show now.

Two more couples were let off the hook immediately and they were Donny and Kym and Aaron and Karina. Four couples were now safe with five remaining.

Cuban superstars Tiempo Libre took to the Dancing with the Stars stage performing Tu Conga Bach from their new Sony Masterworks album entitled Bach in Havana. Representing the new sound of Cuban music, the seven members of Tiempo Libre fled Cuba for a life of freedom in the United States. Their joyful, passionate music celebrates their dual musical heritage of Classical and Afro-Cuban music — and their exuberant performances on disc and on stage have earned them two Grammy nominations, ecstatic reviews, sold out shows and legions of fans around the world.

They have enjoyed collaborations with artists including Paquito D’Rivera, Sir James Galway and Joshua Bell. In 2008 Tiempo Libre brought a true Cuban experience to its American hometown of Miami with the interactive musical production entitled Miami Libre, based on the band’s collective immigrant experience and told through English and Spanish narrative with sizzling music and explosive dance.

The next couples safe was announced and they were Mya and Dmitry and Kelly and Louis.

Taylor Swift then came back out and sang her song, Love Story.

Hosts, Tom Bergeron and Samantha Harris then announced that the first couple eliminated tonight was Melissa and Mark and the two couples in the dance off would be Louie and Chelsie and Michael and Anna.

After the dance-off, the couple going home with Melissa and Mark was Louie and Chelsie.

Next week on Dancing With The Stars, two more couples will be eliminated on ABC!
