So You Think You Can Dance: Two Dancers Can’t Perform Tonight

October 27, 2009 01:00 PM by Britteny Elrick

Tonight the first So You Think You Can Dance Top 20 performance show will air on Fox.  Unfortunately, two of the dancers will be sitting out due to injury and illness. Billy Bell and Noelle Marsh will be watching from the sidelines, but if they aren’t able to compete by next week they are off the show!

The show’s executive producer, Nigel Lythgoe, released a statement on Monday stating that Billy Bell has left the competition due to mononucleosis.  No further details were given on his condition, but Brandon Dumlao will be taking his spot tonight.

“We are disappointed that Billy cannot continue dancing in the competition on the advice of his doctor and wish him a speedy recovery,” Lythgoe said. “However, we are fortunate that Brandon Dumlao has agreed to return.”

As far as Noelle Marsh, she may never be able to return to the competition.  She has suffered an extensive ankle injury and will be given one week to heal, according to the network laws.  In the event she cannot return, the female that is eliminated this week will return in her place.
