Last night on So You Think You Can Dance on FOX both Ariana Debose and Brandon Dumlao were eliminated from the competition by the judges. Keep reading to find out what they had to say about their eliminations, as well as what their plans are for the future.
First up is Brandon Dumlao. Brandon was originally not part of the top 20 on So You Think You Can Dance on FOX but was called back at the last minute to replace Billy Bell who fell ill. Here is what Brandon had to say:
Question: Can you give us a timeline of events and when you were called back onto the show?
Brandon Dumlao: Yes, I was called up on Friday morning at 11 am. I took a 2 hour flight back to the studio, and when I got there I found out that I would be partnering up with Pauline.
Question: Were you surprised to find that Russell was in the bottom 2 with you last night?
Brandon Dumlao: I was shocked since Russell seems to be a fan favorite. I knew as soon as they called his name that I would be the one going home.
Question:: What did you think about Nigel’s comment to bring you back next season?
Brandon Dumlao: Honestly, I was not expecting that and I hope that they will allow me to come back for Season 7. I have already enrolled in both ballroom and hip hop dance classes to further myself.
Question: What is your take on Pauline?
Brandon Dumlao: Pauline and I met on Season 5 and I was confident and comfortable dancing with her. I feel like she is top 10 material.
Question: Can you tell me what your 3 scariest moments on the show have been, and what your plans are for Halloween as well as your favorite Halloween candy?
Brandon Dumlao: For me, my 3 scariest moments on the show were: the call to come back, being unsure of who my partner would be, and finding out how many hours I had to actually rehearse before the performance. My favorite Halloween candy is Snickers.
Question: Do you think if you had originally been in the top 20, things would have turned out different last night?
Brandon Dumlao: I think they may have. I would have had more time to practice my routine with Pauline. If I had stayed on another week, I would have had more time to prove myself as well. I am happy with the way things turned out though. We have an extremely talented top 20 this season.
Next, it was Ariana’s turn for an interview, and here is what she had to say:
Question: Can you tell us about life growing up on a farm, and when you realized you wanted to dance?
Ariana Debose: My family owned a farm in North Carolina, however I did not grow up on the farm. That has been misinterpreted about me on the show. I started dancing at 3 years old and knew I really wanted to dance by about 10 years old. Dancing makes me feel completely free like I am flying.
Ariana Debose: Yes, I was very excited about it. Some of the contests got alot of airtime during the auditions and I did not, so I was thrilled to be able to showcase my abilities.
Question: What are you predictions for the future of the show?
Ariana Debose: Honestly, everyone is fantastic, I would not count anyone out.
Question: Did you feel your piece would be difficult and what did you think of your costume?
Ariana Debose: I knew the piece was going to be difficult, but I thought we did the best we could have possibly done with it. I thought the costume was appropriate for the piece, although it is not something I would normally wear.
Question: What do you think about the possibly of Paula Abdul joining the judging panel?
Ariana Debose: I think it would be great. She would definitely bring a fresh perspective to the show.
Question: Are you hopeful that you may be called back if Noelle does not return next week?
Ariana Debose: I think I would feel a little funny taking Noelle’s place. I also do not want to go through elimination again.
Question: What are your plans for the future?
Ariana Debose: I will be heading to New York City to change gears a bit. I want to dance on Broadway, as well as sing and act in theater.
