The Biggest Loser And A Double Elimination

The Biggest Loser eliminates two tonight and, at this stage of the competition; there really is no excuse for not having decent weight loss numbers week after week. Hey, is it just me, or does this batch of Losers still look big at this point. Yes, this was the biggest groups ever, and Rudy has lost one hundred pounds quicker than anyone ever, but it just looks as though there is still so much more to lose with this bunch.

Host Alison Sweeney met the Losers and immediately informed them that there would be a double elimination this week and two lines; a red line and a yellow line to content with. The person who loses the weigh-in immediately goes home and the two who are below the normal yellow line are voted on to be eliminated as usual.

The pop challenge was huge as the Losers were battling for a one pound advantage at the weigh-in. The challenge was to grab fifty tennis balls from a board and then run and put into a basket with the winner getting the pound advantage at the weigh-in, which at this point, could keep someone in the game. Allen took it at the end to get the advantage but recognized that “It was nice to have but not a guarantee.”

The battle lines were dividing against the youngsters against the oldsters and it was decided that it was important not to follow below the red line. OK, that was definitely a “duh” moment. The Losers informed the trainers about the double elimination and Jillian then took Bob aside in what has to be a first for The Biggest Loser to decide who needed to be trained more to have the possibility to stay at the ranch longer. It was decided that Shay was going to be a focus as Jillian said, “Some people I know will be fine when they leave, but Shay is in trouble if she does not stay longer.”

The red line was on everyones mind as it looked as though the training was taking a toll on the Losers. Danny was suffering the most but, Shay, too, was a mess as Jillian was relentless as she trained her. Even Shay admitted that she had backed off from time to time when training because of the pain but when Shay pulled the tears routine on Jillian, which just hacks Jillian off even more; it only got worse for her.

Drama Sessions

Rebecca with Jillian. Jillian was doing her job and training her but Rebecca was pulling the “It’s too hard stuff” and walked out of training. Danny and Jillian. Danny was benched for a while because he seemed like he was too tired to continue. Bob played “Bob the psychiatrist” and talked to Dany about his hopes and dreams and about how he had gone astray. After a session on the couch, Danny was ready to hit the gym once again. Shay and Rebecca. They were kibitzing about the red line, the yellow line the finish line and whatever other line they could gripe about instead of actually training. Jillian said that yes, it was great to have what they needed here at the ranch, but they could go home and replicate the same conditions.

The Challenge

A circus with clowns and everything was the challenge focus. Allison said that to emulate the circus performers that they had to jump through their opponents hoop and at stake was immunity. The person who had one hundred people go through their hoop would be out.

The youngsters gained up on Liz early on and she was out first. Amanda was out next, followed by Daniel Allen and Rebecca. Shay, Rudy and Danny were trash talking and Shay was complaining because people were trying to get her out like the world owes her for some reason. Shay completely gave up griping all the way and Rudy breezed into immunity, which I did not understand. Rudy has lost more weight than anyone and yet no one even tried to get him out first.

The Weigh-In

The youngsters were trying to fool the oldsters as they set up a gym in Shay’s room to work out after the oldsters hit the bed. It was funny watching the younger Losers work out as it is usually them that complain when they actually have to work out.

The Last Chance Workout was with just Bob and he took the Losers to a place with a lot of trapezes all over the place. Must be some new-fangled workout that is sweeping the West Coast that Bob thought would be a challenge for them. Well, it seemed to work as the Losers were indeed tired after the workout, but how can you tell with this crew as they always look exhausted. But not to be outdone, Jillian was waiting for the Losers and tortured them even more for a double Last Chance Workout.

Host Allison Sweeney met the Losers and again reminded the Losers about the double lines and double elimination.

Rudy was first as he had immunity and lost 8 pounds.

Shay, who again complained about how it was unfair that she was so heavy as she competed, lost a huge 17 pounds, bringing her weight loss to date to an even 100 pounds making her the fastest woman to reach 100 pounds at the ranch. Oh yeah, that was a 4.33% weight loss.

Amanda lost 5 pounds but as not happy thinking it was not good enough. It was a 2.42% weight loss.

Rebecca dropped ten pounds for a 4.57% weight loss

Danny managed to cast off 17 pounds as well for a 5.11% and was another one in the over 100 pounds lost at the ranch club.

Allen lost a respectable 10 pounds for a 4.35% weight loss

Liz was next and she squeezed out a 12 pound weight loss for a 5.50% weight loss

Daniel was the last to weigh in and found himself with 5 pounds less on his frame and he fell below the red line with a 1.92% weight loss and out the door immediately. One redeeming aspect of Daniel’s two visits to the ranch was that he has lost close to 200 pounds.

Amanda and Shay were sent into the elimination chamber of death and it was not clear as to who would be the one ousted. Both gave impassioned pleas but from a “who needed to be there more” standpoint, everyone knew it was Shay but Rebecca was a bit more liked. If the Losers looked at it from a purely game standpoint, Shay would be going.

At the elimination table, Shay got the first two votes from Amanda and Allen. Danny gave Amanda a vote, as did Liz, as Danny and Liz are still a team it seems. Rudy, with bad blood against Shay from the last challenge, let it fly and Shay was out the door with Daniel this week.

Since leaving the ranch, Daniel has lost 215 pounds since leaving the ranch and we saw him talk to his teammate, David, from last season, who has decided not to lose weight and, in fact, has gotten larger than when he went to the ranch last season. I suppose the saddest part of that whole segment was the fact that David was in denial about his weight and you could see the pain on Daniel’s face.

I was extremely disappointed in the elimination voting. Clearly Shay needed more time at the ranch. Amanda looks great and I believe that she will be successful but Shay has many obstacles to overcome. Allen surprised me the most. I thought he had more genuine care about the welfare of people, but sadly I was wrong. Rudy also surprised me. Integrity is definitely not his middle name. Danny and Shay should be proud and I wish them continued success on their journey.

Why did they not show how Shay looked like now?
