Kris Allen Talks About Inspiration For Debut Album

November 13, 2009 03:00 PM by Britteny Elrick

Kris Allen’s self-titled debut album hits stores next week on November 17th. He recently spoke to Reuters about what inspired the album, which was written and produced while traveling around the country during the American Idol tour.

“Name a big city and I probably recorded a song there,” Kris told Reuters. “It was pretty crazy, and kind of weird switching your mind from tour mode to writing and recording mode,” he said. And guess who helped him write some of the tracks for the album?  Fellow Idol Chris Daughtry.

“It’s got a really jumpy chorus that I feel people can really get into, turn the windows down in their car and sing along with it,” Kris said of his first single “Live Like We’re Dying.”  Also included on the album will be Kris’ cover of “Heartless,” which received tons of positive attention on Idol, and the song “Red Guitar,” a song he wrote years ago.

Kris hopes that his album tours will someday go international. “I have always wanted to go to Australia,” he said. “I’ve been to a lot of places, but I never have been there.”
