American Idol: Season 9 Premieres January 12, 2010

Well, if you weren’t already positive that it would, American Idol is returning for another season. Fox has announced that it will premiere season 9 with a special two-hour broadcast on Tuesday, January 12 at 8PM, followed by a one-hour broadcast the following night.

Of course, Randy Jackson, Simon Cowell, and Kara DioGuardi will all be returning along with new judge Ellen DeGeneres. The series will start out with cross-country auditions that will showcase several celebrities filling in for Paula Abdul. Some of the featured judges will be: Victoria Beckham (Denver and Boston), Mary J. Blige (Atlanta), Joe Jonas and Neil Patrick Harris (Dallas), Kristin Chenoweth (Orlando), Shania Twain (Chicago), and Katy Perry and Avril Lavigne (Los Angeles).

Fox will also be premiering Our Little Genius directly after Idol on Wednesday, January 13. The series will feature child whiz kids in a trivia type game where they can potentially win big money for their families.
