We have so many fans of the hit Bravo Lifetime show, Project Runway, that we wanted to be sure we shared this interview with you that our partner site, The Fashion Spot, obtained. Project Runway Season 6 winner, Irina Shabayeva, sat down with our editors and answered questions about the competition, while giving us a look at her fashion design journey so far.
Before her stint on Project Runway, Irina got her start at Parson’s School of Design, where she was considered to be “hands down the best fashion illustrator in the classroom.” This was followed by a trip to study fashion in Denmark, and then a return to the US to work with Diane Von Furstenberg, where she successfully got an employee fired by doing a better job than him and impressing Diane Von Furstenberg. Irina Shabayeva is definitely one of the most interesting reality stars to ever grace our TV. A teaser of her interview is below, but to learn more about Irina Shabayeva and read the whole interview, please visit The Fashion Spot!
TFS: How long did it take you to start and complete the award-winning collection?
Irina: It took me a little less then 2 months.
TFS: Which was your favorite piece from that collection?
Irina: The black knee length coat with the criss cross wrapping leather detail in the back. I love all the pants, too.
TFS: Do you wish that you had more time to contribute to detail, or do you feel you got the job done perfectly?
Irina: I work well under pressure…I think I got the job done well.
TFS: Did you ever doubt for a minute that doing it all in black would be risky? I found it so unusual for you since you LOVE color!
Irina: No, because the collection was abut texture and the different textures of black. It was not about color.
