Jason Mesnick’s ex-fiance, Melissa Rycroft, tied the knot yesterday in Mexico with fiance Tye Stickland of Dallas, Texas. The couple wed in a half-hour sunset ceremony near Cancun with only close family and friends in attendance. And I bet you’ll never guess what song played as they walked down the aisle together…
Melissa certainly hasn’t been crying her eyes out after being dumped by bachelor Jason, she even said that it turned out to be one of the best things that has ever happened to her. Tye, who was Melissa’s friend prior to The Bachelor, rekindled his relationship with her after the public split and the rest is history. “We’ve been really good friends, but the timing was never right,” she recently told Usmagazine.com. “With all this going on, he’s my support system. It’s funny how things happen.”
The couple’s wedding was low key and “not stuffy,” as promised by Melissa. She wore a strapless gown and walked barefoot down the aisle, where bridesmaids in salmon-colored dresses with orange roses awaited. So what did they play when they walked down as husband and wife? The Monday night football song.
Although the pair is happy to start their family together, kids aren’t in the immediate future. “I definitely want to have kids, but not any time soon,” Melissa said. “We want to put ourselves first for as long as we can. I want it to be us for as long as possible before we have some little twerp running around.”
The new season of The Bachelor will premiere in early 2010 on ABC.
