So You Think You Can Dance: Adam Lambert Performs And A Winner Is Crowned!

December 16, 2009 08:01 PM by Lisa Princ

So tonight is the night you have all been waiting for on So You Think You Can Dance on FOX as it is Finale night! We have an action packed 2 hours for you tonight full of dancing, guest performances, a special performance by American Idol season 8 runner up, Adam Lambert and of course our season 6 winner is crowned! If you think you know who takes home the crown, think again! Keep reading for all the details!

The evening started off with of course our usual group performance on So You Think You Can Dance on FOX by our top 6. It quickly changed to our judges as they got to relive some of their favorite performances of the season. We got to see Russell, Kevin & Legacy perform “Beggin” again, as well as our 3 top 20 tappers perform a tap routine. Mary set up a special performance for Ryan and Ashleigh to dance their own style (ballroom) in a number that they choreographed by themselves.

After a performance by Leona Lewis and then Grooveloo Street from World of Dance, we were back to some judges’ favorites. Tice brought back Mollee and Nathan to relive some Bollywood, and Nigel requested that Kathryn and Jakob perform the contemporary routine that they did last night. Next the results begin with Russell injuring his leg on So You Think You Can Dance on FOX and then Ryan was informed that he came in 6th place last night in votes.

After a brief commercial break on So You Think You Can Dance we were back with an awesome performance of “What do you want from me” off his new album For Your Entertainment by Adam Lambert. I guess he took Nigel’s advice because his performance was nice and clean. I must say though no matter what he does, Adam has an amazing voice and I cannot wait to purchase his new album.

Immediately after Adam Lambert’s performance the finalists were brought back out on the stage. After a few moments, Cat announced that in the 5th place spot for votes was Ashleigh. That was a little shocking as I thought Ashleigh had a bigger fan base than some of the others, boy was I wrong..yikes I hate to see who goes next.

Back to another judges’ pick, which was the afro jazz routine but since Russell injured his leg, they showed a clip instead of performing. Then Cat came back with the contestants and revealed that the 4th place spot belonged to Ellenore. Then another judges’ pick brought back Ariana, Channing and Nathan to perform with Jakob.

Next on So You Think You Can Dance on FOX we saw another clip from last night as again Russell was unable to perform and then Mary J. Blige smoked up the stage for us. Nigel then gave us the last judges’ pick of the night which was the entire top 20 performing to a Wade Robinson routine.

Back to business as Cat decided it was time to announce the 3rd place finalist as Kathryn leaving the winner either Jakob or Russell. I was surprised by this because Kathryn really rocked last night, but at least she was the top girl this season. She really came a long way from the top 20 and deserved to be the last gal standing.

Jennifer Lopez gave us a high energy performance after a brief commercial break on So You Think You Can Dance as we anxiously awaited the results of season 6. I guess it comes down to whomever has more fans since both Russell and Jakob have been spectacular this season.

Finally it was time to find out who our season 6 winner is of So You Think You Can Dance. As Russell and Jakob sweat it out for a few minutes, the judges give their thoughts. Then Cat opened the envelope and announced that our season 6 winner is Russell Ferguson!!!!! Congratulations Russell, well deserved!!!

Best of luck to Jakob and all our other finalists, and a huge congratulations again to Russell!

That wraps up season 6 of So You Think You Can Dance on FOX but remember they are auditioning for season 7 soon, check out their website for details!

    “I guess he [Adam] took Nigel’s advice because his performance was nice and clean.”

    Um, I don’t know where you’ve been living or hiding, but Adam has performed that song five times since the AMAs, and given “nice and clean” performances each and every time–

    * Early Show
    * David Letterman
    * Ellen
    * The View
    * Conan O’Brien

    Nigel Lythgoe’s comments were patronizing and hypocritical. For a “family friendly” show, ABC did not seem to have a problem when during the “Group Mambo” round on Oct. 26, dancer Derek Hough forcibly and repeatedly thrust his partner Joanna Krupa’s face into his crotch. ABC did not blur nor ban them. I guess since it was between a man & a woman it was considered “family friendly”. *snort*

    Ok, no where did I state that Adam did NOT have any other nice and clean performances. In fact, I didn’t even know about his AMA performance until I read an article here on the site. I’m not living or hiding anywhere … I have 3 children at home and am too busy to keep up on what everyone is doing. I was simply commenting on something I heard from a show that I watch. Personally, I LOVE Adam, he was my favorite on idol. As a mom, I do NOT condone that on live TV from anyone, man, woman, whoever…makes no difference to me, none of it should be on a “family friendly” show. FWIW, the show you are referring in the above post is “Dancing with the Stars” on ABC, not “So You Think You Can Dance” on FOX, which is what my article was focused on. Once again, I am not dissing Adam in any way, simply stating what I read and what his performance was like last night, I could care less if he is gay or not, he rocks :)
