While talking on the Fames Games music radio show earlier this week, Simon Cowell’s brother, Tony, said that the upcoming season of American Idol will be his last. He continued to say that Simon will be pursuing other endeavors that will no longer leave room for Idol. Keep reading for more details…
“Simon prepares for a new season of Idol — or should I say, his last season of Idol. Okay, I will. Because it is,” Tony said. “As I sit here in the sunny Caribbean with my family, a press statement is being prepared, which will confirm what everyone expected: Simon will leave Idol at the end of 2010 to concentrate on bringing the American version of The X Factor to U.S. TV in 2011.”Â
Simon has gone back and forth this past year on whether he will remain on Idol past season 9, which is when his contract will run out. Last week, London’s The Times newspaper reported Cowell is also in the process of signing a deal for an American The X Factor edition. This new endeavor, along with several British committments, would be too much for him to balance. Looks like something will have to go, but it better not be Idol!
